Zen Spaces

Consultation & Design Service.

For your home, office or event space.

A ‘Zen Space’ is a healthy space. It’s a space that makes you want to breathe deeper, rest easier and feel calmer.

In order to achieve this nourishing environment, three elements are used; We want your space to reflect your Authenticity, considering logical and realistic Functionality, in turn ensuring your ultimate Vitality.

  • Aunthenticity

It’s all about you. It’s very easy to trawl through images on the internet and get swept up in ‘on trend’ imagery but I’d like to learn all about the things that make you tick; the family heirlooms that make your heart sing, the colours that support and inspire you and the way you would like to use your space for your unique personality and purpose. If comfort is your goal, then let’s fill your space with tactile fabrics and a comfy corner sofa to snooze, read or meditate in.

  • Functionality

Making sure your space actually works for you is paramount. This is where beauty meets real life. Combining your honest design and colour preferences with real design solutions to make sure that the time spent in your space feels just the way you want it.

Would you like to use your kitchen table for regular entertaining or working from home? Maybe both? Would you like to use your bathroom for quick showers or long, relaxing soaking? Getting a clear picture will help us design your space with both form and function.

  • Vitality

Your health is the most important part of this process. We will create a space that supports your emotional wellbeing but also your physical wellbeing. We will strive to use non toxic, eco friendly materials where possible. That includes repurposed or up-cycled items, antiques and handmade pieces, using natural materials like stone, clay, wool and wood, avoiding those nasty VOC’s whenever we can. They sneak into so many decoration products. Most commonly found in paints and varnishes but also in carpets, couches and curtains.

SALUS Zen Spaces was born when founder Siobhan Dillon had spent over 10 years of her life living in a London flat before it suddenly occurred to her that she had been living without a dinner table! It didn’t seem important to her. She would grab food and go. In the same beautiful Victorian home was a big white roll top bath that was never used because the shower was a faster alternative… Siobhan’s surroundings were a reflection of her inner speed. Her inability to rest. Her avoidance of “time wasting”. She became unwell. There’s nothing more to say here.

In a world where faster is usually considered to be better, it can sometimes be a challenge slowing down. But we know, from scientific research and our intuition, that faster is not usually healthier. We need to find time to switch off the fight or flight response that most of us spend most of our time in! Our health deteriorates when stress hormones are continually being pumped around the body. Meditation is one of the biggest healers. You’ve come to the right place for that. But you’ve also come to the right place if you’d like to apply relaxing ideas and design into your daily life when you’re not sitting in meditation.

The concept of a Zen Space or a place of peace is nothing new, but I believe we’ve lost touch with what it actually means. Just because a place is peaceful doesn’t mean it has to be slept in. Quite the opposite. We can be hugely productive when we are in a supportive, nurturing environment. When we slow down and allow the right side of our brain to lead us, the most wonderfully creative thoughts and ideas will surface.

Albert Einstein would often take a boat out onto a lake, pull out a notebook, relax, and think. If this isn’t the perfect anecdote to convey this point I don’t know what is!

Our aim is to help you create peaceful and harmonious surroundings in every day living spaces.

We want your space to inspire you.

It’s not just interior design, it’s healthy and authentic lifestyle design.

Your home can be an authentic reflection of you whilst also nurturing and supporting you. We will go through an extensive research stage so we can find a theme that reflects your unique personality and preferences. This includes looking deeper into what specific colours actually do to you. We will take time to consider how designs and artwork make you feel, as well as using aromatherapy oils to support you in this given space. Then, once the authentic investigation is complete we can begin to create a space that really looks beautiful but most importantly, supports you fully and feels great to you too.
